Severe storms could bring damaging winds, quarter-sized hail and tornadoes to the Myrtle Beach area Monday night.
The National Weather Service in Wilmington reported the Myrtle Beach area is at an enhanced risk for severe weather. A cold front will bring scattered to numerous thunderstorms across the area on Monday, said meteorologist Lauren Warner said.
Hail, tornadoes and 60 mph wind gusts are possible in the Myrtle Beach area on March 31, according to the National Weather Service.
While severe weather could start earlier for inland regions, the biggest concern is the wind gusts, which could be 60 mph or greater, Warner said. This could bring down power lines, trees and damaging property.
Warner encourages residents to bring in or tie down anything that could go flying.
Threat of tornadoes and quarter sized hail or larger also loom, but are at a low risk, according to the National Weather Service.
