From today, 26 March to Friday 28 March 2025, Lime is hosting its first-ever First Ride Academy on the Gold Coast.

This three-day community event offers residents a chance to test ride Lime’s e-bikes at Broadbeach, Miami, and Palm Beach. Participants can also take a safety quiz for a free 10-minute ride voucher and score some exclusive Lime merch.

Micromobility is changing the way people move—and Lime wants to make sure it’s accessible, safe, and sustainable.

This initiative gives Gold Coast locals a hands-on introduction to how Lime’s e-bikes can simplify daily travel.

“This initiative is a great way to engage the local community with micromobility, and we’re confident that once they see how simple and convenient it is to use, they’ll become lifelong fans,” said Lara Nickless, Lime Operations Manager.

Locals can meet Lime’s operations team, get personalised guidance, and learn the ins and outs of riding safely in their own neighbourhood.

“Lime has and always will be a strong advocate for safe and responsible riding, and this will remain a central focus at all of our events, including the First Ride Academy, where we prioritise both fun and safety for everyone involved,” added Nickless.

  • Lime has powered more than 500 million rides across 250+ cities worldwide.

  • The company supports trips under five miles, offering a viable alternative to car use.

  • The Gold Coast event features three locations over three days, with free ride vouchers for those completing the quiz.

Each day brings the First Ride Academy to a new suburb:

  • Wednesday 26 March (1pm–3pm): Broadbeach – Miles Bussion Park, 71 Broadbeach Blvd

  • Thursday 27 March (1pm–3pm): Miami – Thorn Park, 138 Marine Parade

  • Friday 28 March (11am–1pm): Palm Beach – Ronnie Long Park, Esplanade near Tallebudgera Surf Club

Locals can drop in, meet the Lime team, participate in the safety quiz, and enjoy giveaways—all while trying out an e-bike in a familiar setting.

Globally, Lime continues to lead the shift towards sustainable transport. Named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential Companies in 2021, Lime is committed to reducing carbon emissions and promoting shared, accessible travel options.

As Lime continues expanding its reach and programs in Queensland, expect more local engagement, events, and incentives aimed at making micromobility an everyday option for commuters, students, and weekend riders alike.
