Pregnant Duchess of Westminster Joins Prince William and George at Soccer

Prince William and Prince George’s boys’ night out at an Aston Villa match included some special friends: the Duke and Duchess of Westminster, who are expecting their first baby!

On April 15, the Prince of Wales and his eldest son attended the second leg of Aston Villa’s Champions League quarterfinal against Paris Saint-Germain at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, where they felt every emotion during the game. William, 42, and George, 11, were spotted in the stands with Hugh Grosvenor, the 7th Duke of Westminster, one of Britain’s richest people and Prince George’s godfather, and his wife, Olivia. Also in attendance was Edward van Cutsem, another longtime friend of William’s and the husband of Hugh’s sister, Lady Tamara Grosvenor.

Aston Villa fans Prince William and Prince George had their eyes locked on the action, and their group appeared to be equally engaged. They jumped from their seats when Villa scored, and Hugh and Olivia hugged to celebrate.

The Aston Villa match was one of the first public appearances for the Duke and Duchess of Westminster after the couple announced that Olivia is expecting their first baby.

A statement released by a spokesperson for the couple on March 12 said: “The Duke and Duchess of Westminster are very pleased to share that the Duchess is expecting a baby in the summer. The couple are delighted with the news and are very much looking forward to starting a family together.”

Hugh, 34, and Olivia, 32, were married in June 2024 in an event touted as the British high-society wedding of the year. Prince William acted as an usher for the ceremony at Chester Cathedral in northern England, repeating a role he conducted at the same church when Edward and Tamara married in 2004.

Prince Harry was also invited to Hugh and Olivia’s wedding but did not attend. A source told the PEOPLE at the time that the Duke of Sussex’s absence from the nuptials was an “understanding between the two friends.”

Hugh is also a godfather to Prince Harry’s son, Prince Archie, 5, whom he shares with his wife, Meghan Markle. In another royal connection, the Duke of Westminster is a godson of William and Harry’s father, King Charles. Princess Eugenie was also a guest at the Westminster wedding.

Olivia became the new Duchess of Westminster on her wedding day when she married Hugh after three years together. The couple announced their engagement in April 2023 after two years of dating and released a photo showing them together where he proposed: his family’s 11,000-acre ancestral seat, Eaton Hall in Cheshire County.

Hugh was considered one of Britain’s most eligible bachelors before he popped the question, inheriting his dukedom at age 25 when his father died in 2016.

The family’s Grosvenor Group holds a premier portfolio of international real estate, and Hugh has an estimated net worth of $13.4 billion. If the couple’s baby on the way is a boy, the child is expected to inherit this fortune one day.
