Popular drink recalled over concerns bottles could explode

A popular drink has been recalled following concerns the bottles could explode and cause injury.

StrangeLove Beverage Company Pty Ltd has recalled the Salted Grapefruit 180ml and 540ml bottles over as a result of unintended fermentation which could cause bottle breakage or popping caps.

“Food products containing excess alcohol and carbonation may result in bottle breakage or popping caps, and illness/injury,” an alert stated.

Consumers were urged not to drink or open the product, and to safely dispose of it. “Please contact StrangeLove Beverages for safe disposal instructions and reimbursement. Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice,” the alert stated.

The drink has been sold at Coles, Woolworths, Dan Murphys, BWS, Liquorland, First Choice, independent retailers and Vintage Cellars across the country, as well as online.

The recalled 180ml bottles include those with a best before date of 23/05/2026 and 31/07/2026, while the 540ml bottles with a best before of 05/01/2026, 09/02/2026, 19/03/2026, 04/05/2026 and 29/05/2026 were also recalled.
