Police Lay A Trap For A Dodge Hellcat, Then All Hell Breaks Loose
After a suspect in a red Dodge Challenger Hellcat flees from police in the area of Albuquerque, New Mexico multiple times, including once going over 130 mph, cops set a trap. Despite meticulous planning and the use of advanced technologies, everything goes to hell in a handbasket as the suspect makes full use of the high-powered American muscle car.
Watch police in California chase a fleeing Dodge Demon.
What police didn’t know before they sprung the trap is the suspect had been in trouble with the law before. He had been charged with murder in 2014 but wasn’t convicted, but did plead guilty to other charges from the same violent incident. In other words, they were dealing with a hardened criminal willing to go to extreme lengths to escape capture.
Footage of the police chase starts with aerial reconnaissance spotting the Hellcat parked at a gas station. Officers set up spike strips nearby, determined to even the playing field since they can’t possibly keep up with the supercharged Hemi monster.
An officer on foot, with no patrol car in sight, is able to successfully spike the Dodge as the suspect appears to not even notice.
With the advantage starting to favor them, police move in with the plan of performing a quick PIT maneuver, ending the chase before it even begins. However, as officers in Ford F-150s approach and turn on their lights, the suspect floors it.
Even with the tires deflating, he’s able to rocket ahead, leading to exactly what police were trying to avoid. The suspect goes the wrong way on a major road, but thankfully there isn’t much traffic.
After running for a bit, the guy realizes police are following on the other side of the road, so he starts flipping around. However, his rapidly deflating tires don’t give him the traction to deal with a curb he runs over, hanging up the Hellcat as police in their trucks come in for the kill.
Three pickups pin the Mopar as the supercharged V8 growls, but the rear tires can’t get enough traction to do anything other than smoke.
Thanks to some non-lethal tools, authorities are able to finally get the driver and his female passenger to comply with orders to get out of the muscle car, although the guy tries his luck at sprinting away and gets about fifty feet.
This is how you catch a fleeing Dodge Hellcat.
