More than 85,000 rainbow trout will be released in 90 locations throughout Ohio. Releases began last week and will continue through May.

“Stockings of these public lakes and ponds are excellent opportunities for families to fish together,” the Ohio Department of Natural Resources said in a prepared statement. “Fishing for catchable-sized trout is a great way to introduce young people to the outdoors.”

Stark County locations are expected to receive rainbow trout as early as next week, with Petros Lake in Perry Township scheduled to be stocked on March 26.
