Motocycle accident near Mesa Mall; Eastbound Patterson Closed

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — A two-car crash involving a car and motorcycle is currently impacting traffic near Mesa Mall.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department regarding the accident, “one patient was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.”

Eastbound Patterson is currently closed as drivers approach the mall since the accident took place at the intersection of Patterson Road and the North Mesa Mall Access Road. The Eastbound lanes will remain closed for an extended period of time.

GJPD recommends that individuals “avoid the area and find a different route for travel.” At the scene, eastbound traffic is being diverted at Market Street through the mall.

There is no other information regarding the crash at this time.

*UPDATE as of 7:08 p.m.:

The crash took place at approximately 4:15 p.m., and upon arrival, officers determined that a vehicle traveling westbound on Patterson Road attempted to turn left and collided with a motorcycle heading eastbound. Bystanders rendered life-saving aid until emergency responders arrived on the scene.

Speed is being considered as a possible contributing factor. The accident remains as an ongoing investigation and no additional information is available at this time.
