A man has been charged with murder after an elderly woman was fatally stabbed at a home in Brisbane’s north.
The 79-year-old woman was found in the front yard of a property on Chestnut Place at The Gap at about 4.20pm on Monday.
She had suffered a fatal stab wound and was declared dead at the scene, police say.

Detective Acting Inspector Michael Jones told reporters police would allege the weapon used was left at the scene, according to The Courier Mail.
A major manhunt for the alleged offender was soon under way, with police officers, sniffer dogs, and a police helicopter all scouring the streets.
A 40-year-old Victorian man was arrested by Australian Federal Police officers at Brisbane Airport shortly before 6.30pm.

Police allege he and the woman were known to one another.
The Victorian man has since been charged with murder (domestic violence offence), and has been remanded in custody.
He will face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
