Lenny Kravitz Opens the Doors to His Paris Home of 22 Years

Lenny Kravitz is giving a glimpse inside his humble abode in Paris.

The rocker, 60, owns the grand mansion of Countess Anne d’Ornano (the widowed former mayor of Deauville), which he now calls “Hotel De Roxy” as a tribute to his mother, who wanted to live in Paris. He gave a tour of the property in a YouTube video for Architectural Digest.

Kravitz has lived in the property for 22 years and immediately fell in love with it when he walked through the front door. The entry hall includes a grand piano, which he helped design and is “really proud of.” His studio, Kravitz Design, spearheaded the entire design of his home.

“This house continually pays tribute to my ancestors and as you’ll see as we walk through the house there’s photographs of them everywhere. All of this photography tells a story throughout the house through black history, American and African,” said Kravitz.

The musician’s home also includes a petite salon with photos of his mother. Kravitz said he calls the inspiration for the home design “soulful elegance.”

“It’s being elegant, sophisticated, but with soul, you know? With your heart [and] with your spirit,” he said. “Because design and elegance without that feeling is just designer names and you know stuff. But when you’re collecting and it really reflects who you are, what you are, where you’ve been, it’s beautiful.”

Further along in the clip, Kravitz gave a tour of his grand salon, which was inspired by Muhammad Ali and had a large seating area where he hangs out with guests.

The same color scheme continues in the dining room, where Kravitz said he likes to “have dinner parties and invite interesting people from all different backgrounds to sit and enjoy a meal.” The floor plan is centered around a photo of his grandfather, whom he said was an “inspirational figure” to him.

The home also included a library, which Kravitz said “means most to me” because it features books that belonged to his mother.

Kravitz said the downstairs of the home is something that he considers his “work floor” and includes a studio with some of his most prized articles of clothing.
