BOOP! The Musical‘s opening night on Saturday, April 5, was a family affair in more ways than one for music hitmaker David Foster.
The sixteen-time Grammy Award-winner — who composed original songs for the new Broadway stage family comedy centered around cartoon character Betty Boop — was supported at the starry affair by Gigi Hadid, daughter of his ex-wife, Yolanda Hadid.
David, 75, was a constant in Gigi’s life from 2011 to 2017, when he was married to Yolanda, 61. Fans got to see the musician interact with the supermodel and her siblings (including fellow models Bella Hadid and Anwar Hadid) on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, the Bravo series on which Yolanda starred for four seasons.
On her Instagram Stories, Gigi, 29, shared a series of posts from her time supporting David. “NYC. BOOP HAS LANDED. AND SHE’S MAJOR,” she wrote with one image from the production, adding, “MUSIC BY @DAVIDFOSTER !! CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL @BOOPTHEMUSICAL.”
In another, the supermodel reshared a post from makeup artist Patrick Ta, who snapped a photo of the show’s Playbill. “DATE NIGHT,” Gigi wrote with it.

Also in attendance at the bash was David’s wife, Katharine McPhee, and three of his children — daughters Amy S. Foster, 51, Sara Foster, 43, and Erin Foster, 40 — plus his granddaughter. (David is also a dad to daughters Allison Jones and Jordan Foster, as well as son Rennie.)
In total, David has six children. His youngest and only son is Rennie, whom he and McPhee, 41, welcomed in February 2021.
Amy is David’s only daughter with his first wife, musician B.J. Cook. He shares Sara, Erin and Jordan with second wife Rebecca Dyer.
David welcomed his eldest child, daughter Allison, when he was 20 years old. She was adopted by another family but reconnected with her famous biological father as an adult.

Despite the divorce, Gigi has stayed in touch with the Foster girls, as Erin explained during a September appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen while promoting her hit Netflix series, Nobody Wants This.
“Gigi actually just DMed me last night saying she was starting to watch the show,” she said, explaining, “The kids don’t get divorced, just the parents do.”

BOOP! is David’s first Broadway show. In March, he opened up to PEOPLE about making of the musical, explaining that he first contacted animation pioneer and Betty Boop creator Max Fleischer about building a show around the character 15 years ago.
“It’s been so long in the making,” David said. “They came along, and it was just right in the right in the right time in my life, when I was like, ‘I need a new challenge. I want to move the goalpost. This seems like the right move for me.’ ”
The score features lyrics by Susan Birkenhead and a book by Tony Award-winning scribe Bob Martin. Tony winner Jerry Mitchell, meanwhile, directs and choreographs.
