Firefighters and Easter Bunny Visit Child Cancer Patients in New York City

The Easter Bunny along with members of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) visited child cancer patients and their families at Ronald McDonald House in Manhattan on Tuesday, April 15, ahead of the Easter weekend.

Ronald McDonald House is a charity organization that provides temporary accommodation to children receiving treatment at local hospitals.

Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker was in attendance, along with members of Engine Company 44 and Ladder Company 13, the FDNY said.

“Every year we come here. Every year we see the same faces we saw last year, and it’s encouraging to see the same people and know that they’re getting better, and know that they’re looking forward to us,” said Firefighter Jason Powell of Engine Company 44. “It’s heartwarming to know that they’re not worried about anything but the Easter Bunny and firefighters. They’re not worried about their illness. They’re not worried about tomorrow. They’re just enjoying today.” Credit: FDNY via Storyful
