ECTOR COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- An Ector County man has been convicted of multiple sex crimes against children. Court records show that on Friday, an Ector County jury found Weldon Needham guilty on three counts of Sexual Assault of Child, second-degree felony and one count of Continuous Sexual Abuse of Child, first-degree felony.
Needham was first charged in June of 2023 after deputies with the Ector County Sheriff’s Office responded after a woman called 911 and said her eight-year-old daughter had made an outcry involving an older relative. As part of the investigation, the child was taken to Harmony Home for a forensic interview; in that interview she said Needham had touched her multiple times and that the assault “hurt”. A Sexual Assault Nurse Exam indicated the girl had signs of trauma from penetration that were consistent with her claims.
Following his initial arrest, Needham was arrested again in July of the same year, and then again twice that August after another relative made similar outcries. Investigators said that between years 2017 and 2022, Needham repeatedly sexually assaulted two children under the age of 10.
Needham was sentenced to a total of 113 years in prison without the possibility of parole.
