Poke and sushi restaurant Hokibar has closed on Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza.
Signs outside the restaurant Tuesday afternoon declared that it was permanently closed. Ownership could not be immediately reached for comment.
Hokibar opened in 2022, serving poke bowls, sushi and sashimi. It took the former Zoe’s Kitchen spot at 100 Ward Parkway.
In 2023, Hokibar opened a location at 13366 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park. That Johnson County spot remains open.
The Plaza has seen several closures recently. In 2024, at least nine tenants exited the shopping district. In late January of this year, Brio closed after more than two decades.
Dallas-based company The Village Collection purchased the shopping center last year, promising to restore it to its former glory, sharing hopes of bringing in new local restaurants and a grocery store tenant.
A construction timeline has not been announced by The Village Collection, but renderings published by The Star last month reveal how the district’s aesthetic could drastically change.
